Product Descriptions
Light gauge steel sections are structural members made from thin sheets of steel that are cold-formed into various shapes. "Cold-formed" means the steel is shaped at room temperature, without the use of heat. This process allows for the creation of a wide variety of profiles with consistent dimensions and high strength-to-weight ratios. Typically, the steel sheets used to make light gauge sections range in thickness from 0.4 mm to about 3 mm (0.016 inches to 0.118 inches). This is significantly thinner than the steel used in hot-rolled structural steel members.
